Technical meeting "Development of Psychological Activities at the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia”

At the Gala Hall of the Central Military Club, a technical conference was held today, titled “Development of Psychological Activities at the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia”, in organization by the Department for the development psychological activities within the Human Resources Sector, which was attended by psychologists from the defence system.

Discussing the significance of establishing the Department for the development psychological activities within the defence system, in whose process of formation and activities she had been greatly involved in the past two years, psychologist at the Office of the Ministry of Defence Maja Petrovic stressed that there had been no problems on that path, since it involved educated and professional staff.

- My main conclusion was that such “force” should be united and that all that knowledge on psychology should not remain scattered in drawers, and the main goal was to maximally develop the profession and sustain psychological staff within the military and engagement of psychologists within the system with the goal of identifying valuable individuals – she stated, adding that the work on formation of the Department was fully supported by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and Head of the General Staff of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic.

According to Head of the Department for the development psychological activities Nada Markovic, this was the first technical meeting of military psychologists after a long time, and also a chance to present the missions and tasks of the Department to their colleague psychologists.

The goal of this meeting, after roundtables and discussion groups that will be organized, is to reach solutions and propositions together, and to mutually define the goals of our future work and to present an action plan that we will strive to fulfill – she stressed, adding that the main aim of today’s meeting was to improve future work, because strength is seen in joining creative and professional potentials.

Focus topics of the meeting will be professional advancement of psychologists in the defence system, psychological preparations for referral to multinational operations, development of psychological activities in the defence system, and formation of Military Psychologists Section is also planned.

Department for the development psychological activities was founded in July 2013, and the main mission of psychologists at the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia is contribution to managing human resources, with the goal of securing efficiency and quality in technical training and psycho-physical capabilities of members of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, so as to improve operative capabilities of the military for conducting assigned missions and tasks.
