Traffic Safety Council's session
The session of the Security Council military road users for 2014 was held today at the Directorate of General Logistics Department of material resources, where participants discussed the state of safety of military road users in this year.Topics of today’s session were: activities of military traffic police in improving safety of military road users, transportation of dangerous goods at the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, indicators of monitoring traffic safety in Serbia, experience from the Congress of the European Commission for traffic safety in armed forces and discussion of the plan for the Council’s work and the Plan of activities on improving safety of military road users for 2015.
This year, 64 accidents have been recorded, with one person being severely injured and two with light injuries and 72 accidents have happened outside military vehicles with deadly outcomes. During the Session, it has been concluded that less traffic accidents and consequences have been recorded in 2014 comparing to last year.
In May, the Regulation on safety of military road users was passed, which modernized approaches and procedures for drivers and military vehicles, and members of the defence system who are in any way involved in planning and realization of matters from the Traffic and Transportation function in the field of road traffic safety.Software has also been procured for preparation and testing of drivers of military vehicles in knowing the regulations in the field of traffic safety, which created conditions for a more efficient and effective application of the regulative which regulates the training of candidates for drivers and training and periodic testing of military vehicle drivers.
The session was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transportation, Construction and Infrastructure, Traffic Safety Agency, Faculty of Traffic in Belgrade and Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.
