The Great Britain, Canada, Australia, France and many other friendly countries responded to the call of the Serbian government that was powerless before the disaster that was taking over – Jankovic said. – The importance of participation of foreign medical missions in Serbia during the Great War lies in the fact that some of them remained by the Serbian military throughout all years of the war. Risking their lives, those humane people provided medical help to citizens and soldiers, which earned them the admiration of the Serbian people, and common experiences during the war helped build a long-lasting respect and friendship between the Serbian people and members of the foreign medical missions.
