Artillery salvo on the occasion of Armistice Day



Today,Members of the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces fired a 10-volley salute from six artillery weapons from the Savski Plateau on the occasion of tomorrow’s marking of the Armistice Day in the Great War.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Head of General Staff of Serbia Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic, Head of the Planning and Development Department at General Staff of Serbia Major General Dusan Stojanovic, Guard Commander Brigadier General Milomir Todorovic and numerous citizens.

The armistice and ceasefire in the Great War were signed on November 11, 1918 in France, at the special wagon of Marshal Ferdinand Foch.

The ceremony of marking the Armistice Day represents the act of honoring all military and civilian victims killed during the Great War. The armistice, which was valid until conclusion of the final Peace Treaty in Versailles, on June 28, 1919 is marked in all countries that signed the treaty.
