General Dikovic viisted the Third Training Center and "Medja" shooting ground

Head of the General Staff of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic and associates visited the Third Training Center and “Medja” shooting ground.

At “Vojvoda Petar Bojovic” barracks in Leskovac, an extended General Staff Collegium was held, after which Lieutenant Colonel Sladjan Cvetkovic, Commander of the Third Training Center, introduced General Dikovic and members of the Collegium to living and working conditions at the barracks.

Later in the visit, General Dikovic visited “Medja” shooting ground where he attended a display of training of armored units.

Members of tank units from the formation of the Third Army Brigade demonstrated their perfect training in managing tanks on the tactical and sports track and field, and showed that their great results come from a long-lasting and high-quality training process.

“Medja shooting ground, with the mixed shooting ground “Pasuljanske livade”, provides the best conditions for training and shooting in the Armed Forces and that is why we are firmly dedicated to make it fully functional for training, camping, and shooting of armored, mechanized, artillery and infantry units in the next period” – General Dikovic said.

“Medja” shooting ground has been active since 1973, and data about the number of performed shootings and shooters indicate that it has great perspective and is worth being invested into. In 2014, 2672 meters of canals were cleared, terrain was searched for lobbed ammunition, tank biathlon track and mixed sports track for training of tank units were finished, and filling and fixing anti-ricochet bulwarks were completed.

On the other hand, it has been planned for a protective 470 m long and 6 m high bulwark to be made next year, construction and infrastructure works on arranging a cover for automatic grenade launchers to be performed and to finish ground works on formation of a tactical track for performance of tactical exercise and free firing.
