Seminar on public procurements



Today, at the Military Academy in Belgrade, a one-day seminar was held, titled “Public procurements – international experiences and national practice” organized by the Sector for Material Resources of the Ministry of Defence, with the help and support of the National Bank of Serbia.

The seminar, intended for employees at the defence system dealing with public procurements and acquisitions was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic and Head of the Department for Defence Technologies Major General Bojan Zrnic.

Greeting the participants of the seminar, State Secretary Djordjevic pointed out the importance of the seminar, not only for the defence system, but for the state as well. He stated that misconducted public procurements endanger the defence system, and the state itself, while proper execution of these procedures leads to savings in the system. He stated his belief that today’s seminar would take away any uncertainties about the process of public procurements, and that the Ministry of Defence would do everything possible to make such seminars a regular practice.

Participants of the seminar heard lectures of eminent lecturers from the country and worldwide, experts in the field of public procurements that spoke about experiences, trends and problems in this field.

The goal of today’s seminar was to introduce staff dealing with public procurement with international practices and practices of biggest spenders in execution of public procurements, and with the tasks of the Republic Commission for Protection of Rights in execution of public procurements.
