A new skydiving record set at Batajnica
Above the military airport Batajnica, a new mixed skydiving record has been set in Serbia, in formation figures category when 25 male and female parachutists managed to make a previously submitted figure and thus break the record of 22 years. The record breaking was initiated by the Association of Women Parachutists of Serbia in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, and the jumps are performed from transport helicopter of the 890th mixed helicopter escadrille “Pegasus” of the 204th Air Force Brigade.
The goal of this aeronautical-sports undertaking was to create a group formation during a 4,000m free fall of at least 25 parachutists, who were to form a group formation. The formation must be of the same shape and individual positions that has been previously submitted, which is checked by “flying cameramen” that jump together with the parachutists and two judges of the Aeronautical Union of Serbia on the ground.

Aside from sports parachutists, members of aero clubs, active members of the Special Brigade of the Armed Forces of Serbia also took part in breaking the record. At the Association, they stressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia for their support in this, and previous similar aeronautical-sports undertakings, emphasizing that the record break overlaps with the marking of fifteen years since the foundation of the Association and 65 years since the formation of 204th Fighter Aviation Regiment, whose tradition is continued today by the 204th Air Force Brigade.
The preparation jumps and the selection of candidates began on October 18, and the first attempt to break the record was on October 21. A day later, the current record was matched - group formation of 24 parachutists (24-way) in free fall, which was set in 1992 in Subotica.
In the next few days, the Serbian parachutists will attempt to break this record as well and to increase the formation to 26 and more participants.
