Conference on the Operational Capabilities Concept



Today, at the “Holiday Inn” Hotel in Belgrade, a two-day annual Conference on the Operational Capabilities Concept according to NATO standards began. The technical gathering that hosts representatives of the countries of the Partnership for Peace Program was opened by Major General Vojin C. Jondic, Head of the Operational Business department at the Serbian General Staff.

- Having in mind that the main goal of the conference is to enable exchange of information about tendencies of growth of the Operational Capabilities Concept and planning activities for 2015, I hope that you will have the chance to exchange opinions and practices concerning one of the most important and effective mechanisms of partnership cooperation – General Jondic said, adding that mutual trust and sense of unity are the foundation of cooperation.

According to Head of J-3, Serbia, as an active and constructive member of the Partnership for Peace, is dedicated to pursuing established goals of the agreement. He stressed that Serbia shows a clear intention to contribute to preserving peace in the region and in the world by participating in multinational operations. Jondic reminded that 236 members of our military are currently deployed in 10 peacekeeping missions across the world.

- By declaring three units to the Operational Capabilities Concept and with the help of partnership counties in the past four years, the Armed Forces of Serbia have reached a high level of interoperability and capability for taking part in multinational operations – Jondic said.

Major Dusan Mrdak from the International Military Cooperation Department in charge of NATO relations said that the annual conference in accordance with the OCC is an important event from the aspect of the Partnership for Peace Program. He stressed that Serbia is known as an active and reliable partner. The conference, according to Major Mrdak, discusses achievements and plans for development of the Operational Capabilities Concept, focusing on planning events for 2015, a software that supports unit evaluation and activities of each partnership state.
