Another donation from the Russian Federation

Russian Federation aircraft Ilyushin 76 carrying humanitarian aid for Serbian citizens afflicted by floods in May landed this morning at the Belgrade Airport “Nikola Tesla”.

Officials of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation were welcomed by Brigadier General Predrag Bandic, who thanked on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and all Serbian citizens to the Russian people on another donation they have sent to our country after the floods in May.

- This humanitarian aid is for the citizens whose lives and possessions were endangered during the disastrous floods in May. Landing of this plane confirmed the continuity of the humanitarian aid from Russia – he said, adding that he hopes other countries would send help for those afflicted by the floods.

Alexander Sergeyevich Tomasov, Deputy Director of the Office of Civilian-Military Cooperation at the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, expressed his pleasure to have the opportunity to hand over the humanitarian aid.

- There is a Russian-Serbian humanitarian center in Nis that disposes of reserves necessary in crisis situations, and that enabled Russian rescue teams to quickly deliver the aid where it was most needed – Tomasov said. He reminded that the Russian Government sent two planes with humanitarian aid, and that Russian rescue teams were among the first ones to provide help.

Apart from the Ministry of Defence, humanitarian aid will also be given to the Ministry of Health and the Red Cross.
