Operation Halyard exhibition at the Military Museum



At the Gallery of the Military Museum, an exhibition of documents and archive photographs dedicated to marking 70 years of the Halyard Mission has been opened. The exhibition, prepared by the Euro-Atlantic Initiative from Belgrade, includes photographs made during the summer of 1944 by American pilots in Serbia and is a unique homage to the pilots, and to the Serbian people who saved them.

During the Operation Halyard, executed at a field in the village of Pranjani near Cacak, several hundred American airmen and other Allied pilots were evacuated with the help of the Yugoslavian military under guidance of Dragoljub Mihailovic and the US Office of Strategic Services.

The exhibition will be open to the public until October 3, 2014, from 10 to 17.
