Cooperation between the Military Geography Institute and Faculty of Geography

Military Geography Institute and Faculty of Geography signed Agreement on scientific cooperation in Belgrade, today. The document was signed by the Colonel Stevan Radojcic, PhD, Head of the Institute, and Professor Dejan Filipovic, Dean of the Faculty.

Cooperation between the Military Geography Institute and Faculty of Geography- We have had an agreement on scientific-technical cooperation for a long time, which is still in force, but the time and circumstances have changed, technology has advanced, and the Military Geography Institute this year has received the status of a scientific research institution, so that there is now more space for cooperation. Previously we could receive from the Faculty thematic cartography but we wish to create a basis for future cooperation – Colonel Radojcic said and pointed out that it could be extended to the professional development of staff, participation in future joint research projects and other areas.

Professor Filipovic pointed out that Military Geography Institute is one of the few institutions with which the University has always worked well and that he is looking forward to their future cooperation.

Colonel Radojcic also recalled the history of cooperation between the two institutions saying that it dates back to the 19th century – when the Faculty was the Geography Institute, and MGI – Geography Department of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, when they started with the first forms of cooperation related to the creation of the 1: 75,000 map for which Jovan Cvijic said that represents the beginning of a new chapter of cartography in Serbia.
