Head of the General Staff talked with Commander of the Ohio National Guard
Head of the Serbian General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic met today with Commander of the Ohio National Guard Major General Deborah Ashenhurst. The conversation between the delegations of the Armed Forces of Serbia and the Ohio National Guard was also attended by US Ambassador in Belgrade Michael Kirby. During the meeting, the generals discussed the present cooperation within the State Partnership Program between Serbia and Ohio, with the emphasis on the development of the “South” base, increasing the scope of joint exercises and deploying the military in providing aid for the citizens in case of natural disasters.
It has been stated that the mutual cooperation is developing in a good direction, and that, in the following period, a possibility should be considered of joint exercises of medical teams and continuation of the “Humanitarian Assistance” project.
General Dikovic particularly thanked Ambassador Kirby for the US donation for the needs of flood relief in Serbia, and thanked him and General Ashenhurst for the realization of the “Humanitarian Assistance” project. Moreover, he congratulated General Ashenhurst on her appointment as the Chairperson at National Guard Association of the United States, which made her the first woman chosen for this duty.General Ashenhurst attended yesterday the execution of the exercise of the SAF units declared for deployment in multinational operations – “Shield 4”, at Rujan training ground near the “South” base. Commander of the Ohio National Guard will visit the Military Medical Academy and the Riverine Flotilla in Novi Sad, and tomorrow she will attend the promotion of the youngest officers of the Armed Forces of Serbia in front of the House of the National Assembly.
