Performance of "Stanislav Binicki" Ensemble in Vranje



The Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binicki”, with a musical-stage performance, completed the Gala Academy held today in Vranje on the occasion of marking September 7 – the Liberation Day of this city in the Second World War and seven decades of victory over fascism.

The ceremony at the Military Club was attended by Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Aleksandar Antic, on behalf of the Serbian Government, Deputy Army Commander Major General Milosav Simovic, Commander of Vranje Garrison and the 4th Brigade Brigadier General Zoran Lubura, Mayor of Vranje Zoran Antic, members of the Serbian Parliament, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation Vladlen Zelenin and Bishop of Vranje Pahomije, representatives of county and city authorities, Police Force, Association of Veterans of the National Liberation War and Association of Descendants of WWII Veterans.

- Whenever Serbia fought for freedom, its South sacrificed the most. Thank you for that, because, thanks to those who gave their lives 70 years ago, entire Serbia enjoys freedom today. Vranje has reasons to be proud of the legacy of the anti-fascist battle. The force of this resistance and the greatness of the sacrifice of our fallen fighters place Serbia and its people in the line of heroes. The commitment of all of us is to preserve the historical memory and transfer it to the next generations, with the people from the Association of Descendants of WWII Veterans. Eternal glory and thanks to everyone who gave their life so that we may live in freedom today – Minister Antic said in Vranje.

The Mayor also congratulated the people of Vranje on the jubilee, stressing that there is no advancement without honoring the past and the commitment to build the future in unity.

- Today, we are proud to celebrate our liberalistic past, culture and customs. We remember our ancestors, bow down to warriors who gave their lives for our freedom. It is of the highest value for every nation and we will cherish it, unburdened by ideological, national, religious and other differences of those who brought it, because freedom always means a new beginning – he said.

After the sounding of the anthem of the Republic of Serbia, performed by the Ensemble “Stanislav Binicki”, whose today’s repertoire also included compositions “Valter” from the film “Valter Defends Sarajevo”, “Partizanski Splet” and “March on the Drina”, conducted by Pavle Medakovic, the audience was greeted with authentic songs by artists Danka Stojiljkovic and Dejan Pesic.
