Voluntary blood donation action of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia
The action of voluntary blood donations, organized by the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, took place at the plateau outside the Ministry.The first to donate blood at the special transfusion bus of the Military Medical Academy Institute of Blood Transfusion and Hemobiology was Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic, who stated that he expects a great response to the humanitarian action.
- We are here to help our citizens who need blood, especially those at the Military medical Academy, and the rest of the units of the invaluable liquid will be given to healthcare institutions in greatest need of it – Minister Gasic said, confirming that he has donated blood for the tenth time, and that he is particularly glad to be able to help because “he has a rare blood type”.
He also stated that Serbia always needs unity and solidarity, because that is when the times get “going” for us in many fields.
Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic, after the humanitarian act, said that he joined the action of the Ministry of Defence because we need unity to help those in need, but also in order to “in the same way, with solidarity, bring the Serbian economy to the desired track”.
Blood was also donated by members of the Collegium of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff, and numerous members of the Armed Forces of Serbia, some of whom, due to the massive response, were directed to the Military Medical Academy. Blood was donated by 126 members of the defence system at the bus and 35 at the MMA.Private Oliver Rudaj from the 2nd Missile Division of the 250th Missile Brigade has donated blood for the ninth time. He stressed that his main motive was to help the people in need.
- Almost all members of my unit that are not on call or deployed in other activities have joined this action, and the response would have been even greater if a similar activity hadn’t been recently organized within our formation – Private Rudaj stated.
