Manjifiko and "Binicki" at the Serbian premiere in Ivanjica

After successful performances in Koper and Maribor, renowned Slovenian author Robert Pesut – Manjifiko and the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binicki” held a national premiere last night in Ivanjica which fully lived up to the hosts’ expectations.

The concert in the town square, as one of the most significant events of this year’s “Nusic Days”, a renewed manifestation held for the fifth time at this Western Serbia’s town, attracted numerous visitors that enjoyed a true spectacle until midnight – one that only music enthusiasts in Slovenia and Italy had had the chance to watch.

During the “classical overture” of the concert, young violinist Katarina Mrvic, accompanied by Binicki Ensemble, showed her vast talent, recognized and rewarded by the audience with salvos of applause.

Later, the increasingly known Slovenian musician, accompanied by the military orchestra and his band, and with the wholehearted support of the cheerful audience, performed his compositions and well-known numbers from “Montevideo”, with greatest success of “Here I Go”, “I Think”, “Zum Zum Kolo” and “Samo Malo”, while he performed the hit song “Pukni Zoro”, with particularly inspired performance of Binicki, as the third encore which, minutes before midnight, pulled the curtains on the evening described by many visitors as – unforgettable.

Pavle Medakovic, conductor of the ensemble in the overture of the concert, had similar impressions. He underlined that, during the first Binicki’s performance in Ivanjica, also during the “Nusic Days”, two years ago, local audience had shown they enjoy good quality music.

- They confirmed this tonight and I am exceptionally pleased with the reception. I like that combination of classical and popular, film music, and the audience’s reaction speaks most loudly of how people feel about it. Such confirmation is also the greatest reward for us, the performers.

Robert Pesut said he was particularly excited for their first joint performance in Serbia, where they had started their cooperation while working on the film “Montevideo”.

- However, when I saw how many people love our songs here as well, it truly touched my soul during the concert, and, when I think of it, it is exactly why I became a musician, so that I could experience something like this – Slovenian author pointed out. With Binicki Ensemble, which had once again proven to be the true gem of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, he was successfully “seen for Ivanjica” this year, which is a popular motto of the “Nusic Days”, a manifestation recognizable for its promoting the values of the citizens of Serbia.
