208th Anniversary of the Battle of Misar marked

With laying wreaths and paying respects, today, the 208th anniversary of the Battle of Misar was marked at the monument to the fallen heroes in Misar near Sabac.

Wreaths were laid by Negovan Stankovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, officials of the City of Sabac and the Association for Fostering the Tradition of Serbian Liberation Wars.

The Battle of Misar, which took place on August 13, 1806, represented one of the most significant victories of the rebels over the units of the Military of the Ottoman Empire.

On this occasion, led by Vozd Karadjordje and distinguished rebels from the region of Sabac and Valjevo, Serbs took a brilliant victory that strengthened the rebels’ position and dramatically endangered the status of Turks within the Pashaluk of Belgrade.
