Minister Gasic with the President and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan
The delegation of the Ministry of Defence led by Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic, during the second day of the visit to Azerbaijan, met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, and Yavar Jamalov, Minister of Defence Industry. Gasic thanked President Aliyev for the donation Azerbaijan had sent to Serbia during the floods and emphasized that the connections between the two countries had never been at a higher level.
Defence Minister pointed out that Serbia principally supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and those of all member states of the UN, and that all altercations should be resolved only with dialogue. At the same time, Gasic also thanked for their support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.
Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of the strategic partnership, and stated that Minister Gasic’s visit further enhances the successful relations, primarily those in the field of defence. Aliyev thanked Gasic for the regards sent to him by President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
Minister Gasic also met with Prime Minister Artur Rasizade. During the meeting, it has been stated that there is an excellent foundation for improving economic cooperation, especially in the field of energetics, defence and military industry.The Azerbaijani side was introduced with a number of reformative laws designed to enable more foreign investments in Serbia.
During the talks with Yavar Jamalov, Minister of Defence Industry, the main topic was strengthening the defence cooperation, where, along with the existing one, a new form of cooperation between the two industries was agreed upon.
The Serbian delegation also visited the Education and Training Center of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and the Military Academy, and the Heydar Aliyev Center. The visit to Azerbaijan aroused great interest of the public and the media.
