Meeting of the Minister of Defence and the Ambassador of Algeria
Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and the Algerian Ambassador in Belgrade and Abdelkader Mesdoua talked about the whole of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and cooperation in the field of defence.Relations between the two countries are exceptionally good and there is a mutual interest in further development of cooperation in all fields. Gasic stressed that Serbia greatly appreciates the principal support of Algeria when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija. Both sides are pleased with the tempo and quality of realization of activities from the Cooperation Plan between Algeria and Serbia in the field of defence during this year, and agree that there is possibility for initiating a new field of cooperation, which is crisis management, because of synergy and exchange of knowledge and practices in the field in question.
Cooperation in the field of defence is intensive and has a rising trend. Main cooperation is focused on military economy and military education (education of Algerian staff in Serbia in the fields of military medicine and military-technical sciences, courses from the field of CBRN and peacekeeping operations). The Algerian side appreciates our decision to refer a medical team of the Armed Forces of Serbia to the Republic of Mali.
Defence Minister thanked the Algerian Ambassador for the donation of 500,000 USD given to Serbia for the citizens killed during the disastrous floods.
Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic accepted the invitation of Army General Ahmed Gaid Salah, Deputy Minister and Head of the General staff of the Armed Forces, to visit Algeria by the end of the year.
