The Ensemble "Stanislav Binicki" opened BELEF



The Belgrade Summer Festival BELEF 2014 was opened today with a concert by the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binicki” at the Grand Hall of the Kolarac Foundation in Belgrade. The Ensemble’s conductor was Vojkan Borisavljevic, and performing guests were Italian tenor Tino Favazza and soprano Snezana Savicic-Sekulic, as a part of the program of Italian canzones “O Sole Mio”.

The numerous audience enjoyed the sounds of 18 compositions, some of which were: “Siciliana“, “L’Italiano“, “Terra Mater“, ”Summertime“, “Libiamo”, “O Sole mio”, “Volare Medley”, “Funiculi, Funicula”, “Vojvodjanski Galop“, “Carmen/The Overture “ and “Marechiare“, and after the call for encore, another piece followed.

This year’s Festival, under the slogan of “A Sentimental Journey”, July 15 to August 15, will offer the audience various artistic programs at the Belgrade Republic Square, in front of the Servantes Institute, at the Flower Square, at the Culture Center – House of King Petar I in Senjak, in Barutana and at the Viktor Plateau on Kalemegdan.

During the Festival, over 20 programs will be realized – mainly of classical music, jazz concerts, and theatre and student programs. The “Binicki” Ensemble will hold another concert during the Belgrade Summer Festival on July 23 on Kalemegdan, with the Military Orchestra of the Greek Army. BELEF will be closed on August 15 by one of the most renowned singers of former Yugoslavia Leo Martin and the Belgrade Dance Orchestra. The entrance is free for all programs.
