Improving cooperation with Egypt

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and the Amassador of Egypt Menha Mahrous Bakhoum talked about developing concrete cooperation programs in the field of defence.

As Minister Gasic pointed out, mutual interest of the two countries benefits from reconstruction of work of mixed military committees; there, opinions on the security situation, defence system reform and experiences in participation in peacekeeping operations are exchanged.

Gasic and Bakhoum agreed that the improvement of bilateral military cooperation can be achieved through the development of military-educational, military-medical and scientifically technical cooperation.

The Ambassador of Egypt thanked for the Defence Ministry’s offer for participation of members of the Armed Forces of Egypt in CBRN courses in Krusevac and at the Peacekeeping Operations Center of the Armed Forces of Serbia. She pointed out that, in the field of defence, cooperation with our country is far more developed than with much larger and richer countries, and that Serbia is one of the most significant future partners in the field of military-economic and military-technical cooperation. As an important aspect of creating the legal frame for future joint projects, Defence Minister and the Ambassador pointed out that it is necessary to sign the Agreement on Defence Cooperation of the two countries as soon as possible.
