Meeting of the Defence Minister and the Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia
Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic met with Ambassador Peter Burkhard, Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia.
Gasic and Burkhard talked about present cooperation and the upcoming Serbia’s OSCE Chairmanship in 2015.Minister Gasic pointed out that our country, that has entered the coordination body in January, the so-called “Troika” including Ukraine (the chairing country of OSCE in 2013), Switzerland (chairing this year) and Serbia, will strive to be impartial during its OSCE Chairmanship. Defence Minister stressed that all processes initiated this year will be finished, and that a Joint Plan incorporating the military-political dimension of security has been drawn up. Moreover, Gasic talked about the recent floods that had hit our country, and about the significant role of the Republic of Serbia in flood relief.
During the talks, Gasic and Burkhard brought attention to the significance of cooperation in the scope of sub-regional and regional initiatives and processes. Special emphasis was given to practical help the OSCE has been providing during realization of the CASM project - Capacity Development Program for Conventional Ammunition Stockpile Management for the Republic of Serbia, and the implementation of the OSCE Code of Conduct in Political-Military Aspects of Security in the reform of the defence system.
