Meeting of the Defence Minister and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway



Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic met today with Nils Ragnar Kamsvag, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway. “Norway’s decision to donate 2 million euros for flood relief is truly significant for us and Serbia appreciates the support and solidarity of this friendly country”, Minister Gasic stressed.

The meeting included talks on deployment of the Armed Forces of Serbia on repairing the damages caused by the floods and helping the citizens, as well as the fact that the deployable medical treatment facility, which Norway had donated to Serbia in 2007, was of great use for the citizens of Obrenovac.

Minister Gasic thanked for the continuous dedication of Norway for the development of cooperation in the field of military medicine and the mentoring and financial support they had given Serbia as the leading nation of the Balkan military medicine forces.

The pinnacle of the military cooperation was deployment of members of the Armed Forces of Serbia and Norway in the multinational peacekeeping operation in Chad. Meeting parties agreed that this kind of joint engagement is mutually beneficial.

Minister Gasic draw particular attention to the fact that it would be of great importance if Norway would provide its assistance in realization of the project “Improving technological support of electronic management of documents within the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia”, which presently is of high priority for the reform of the defence system.
