"Diplomac 2014" exercise

At the mixed shooting ground "Pasuljanske livade" near Curpija the final year cadets of the 135th class of the Military Academy have successfully developed a tactical exercise with live firing "Graduate 2014". The execution of the exercise was attended by Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Milos Jankovic, Army Commander Lieutenant General Aleksandar Zivkovic, and Head of the Military Academy Major General Mladen Vuruna with associates.

The goal of the exercise and the one-month camping of cadets of the finishing year of the Infantry Module, Armor Units, Engineering and Telecommunication at the shooting ground "Pasuljanske livade" was to train cadets for efficient and high-quality planning, organization and execution of tactical exercises with live firing, checking the level of training of cadets for first officer duties, and training and implementation of safety and protection measures during the course of the exercise.

According to Colonel Dejan Randjelovic, head of the exercise, "Graduate 2014" is somewhat different from the previous ones in scope and content. The first part was dedicated to maintaining communications links of the telecommunication center, and then future commanders of the platoon and gunners demonstrated actions of the tank platoon during the preparation for march and battle. Procedures of infantry mechanized department for combat vehicles upon receiving the command were also presented.

The pinnacle of "Graduate 2014" was the realization of unique tactical live firing exercises. The scenario envisioned enemy attack of a mechanized battalion, and its destruction after an efficient defence and attack of the tank platoon, called for backup for the attacked rifle platoon.

One of the main tasks of cadets of the 135th class during the exercise was to present communication between platoon commanders and departments. During the activity, the synergy of infantry and armored units in neutralizing the enemy was demonstrated.

Congratulating the cadets on a successfully performed live firing exercise, Head of the Military Academy Major General Mladen Vuruna told the cadets that today's exercise was a culmination of their education at the Military Academy and a practical test of knowledge of the future Serbian Army officers.

- Serious tasks lie ahead in only two months in the units of our Armed Forces where you will show all your skills and knowledge we saw today in the course of the exercise. As of tomorrow, you will have to take full responsibility for all the activities you perform in the units – said the head of the Military Academy and explained that this means executing assigned tasks, while guarding the people and the entrusted technological equipment.

The cadets of the final year at Military Academy’s study programs, after today's exercise, are to pass their final exams and thesis, and on 14 September, in front of the Serbian Parliament, they will be officially promoted to the rank of second lieutenants in SAF.
