The Armed Forces continue helping in Obrenovac

Members of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia are deployed on cleaning large waste and disinfection of parts of Obrenovac today as well, and the Armed Forces will stay in the city as long as needed.

- Today, the Armed Forces will focus on cleaning Rajkovac, Dudovi, Zabrezje, Belo Polje, Sljivice and the city center. The Armed Forces are working in the same dynamics as previous days. Today, there are around 500 our members with 25 trucks and 15 engineering machines – Major Dejan Ivantic said. He had been appointed as coordinator of the Armed Forces with civilian structures by Minister of Defence. He added that, aside from military machinery, 45 trucks from civilian structures have also been deployed.

One of the areas where the Armed Forces are deployed is the Elementary School “Jefimija”, where teaching staff is getting help cleaning the building where, during the first night of the flood, 2000 people had been evacuated.

The school’s Principal Dragan Jovanovic thanked members of the Armed Forces on behalf of the staff and students because “without their participation, they wouldn’t manage cleaning the school, especially the ground floor, which was in large part destroyed by the flood wave.”

Considering the fact that the Community-Health Center has started working, the other deployable medical treatment facility in Vuka Karadzica Street, across Culture Center, will be taken down today. The deployable medical treatment facility located near “Jefimija” Elementary School, which has the necessary capacities to receive all citizens of Obrenovac who need medical care, will continue working.

Today, Obrenovac was also visited by freshmen of the Advanced Security and Defence studies, and Colonel Zoran Velickovic, Deputy Commander to the Special Brigade Units, spoke to them about the deployment of the Armed Forces during flood relief in that city, explaining the dynamics from the first days of the flood to the present day.
