First "Spring in Belgrade" ended
The first music festival “Spring in Belgrade”, in the organization of “Stanislav Binicki” art ensemble, ended today with the review program reserved for the greatest hits of evergreen music made between 1960 and 1980. On the stage of the Grand Hall of the House of Trade Unions in Belgrade, performances were held by music legends whose songs, such as “Odyssey” by Leo Martin and “Let’s Begin Our Love Anew” by legendary Beti Djordjevic, marked the history of both Yugoslav music and the former “Belgrade Spring” Festival.
In front of the crowded audience, such everlasting songs, beside the aforementioned artist, were performed by Lola Novakovic, Radmila Karaklajic, Nada Pavlovic, Maja Odzaklijevska, Lena Kovacevic, Ekstra Nena, Jasna Gosipic, Zoran Lekovic, “Lutajuca Srca”, Lado Leskovar, Zarko Dancuo, Zafir and Vasil Hadzimanov, Miki Jevremovic, Zoran Georgijev, Dejan Petkovic, Dejan Cukic, Dragan Mijalkovski, Kemal Monteno and Djordje Marjanovic, who also received a lifetime achievement award.
The music time machine was completed by the musicians of “Stanislav Binicki” art ensemble who accompanied this year’s “Spring in Belgrade” performers during all three festival evenings.
- - The songs that remained a legacy of the former “Belgrade Spring” Festival are listened to even today, and that is the best measure of their quality. I couldn’t miss the chance of replying to the invite of my great friend Vojkan Borisavljevic, who is also the composer of my greatest hit “Odyssey”, to be a part of the festival, for which I hope will be a worthy successor of the old tradition – singer Leo Martin said, thanking the organizer behind “Stanislav Binicki” art ensemble for a beautiful music programme.
Legendary singer of the former Yugoslavia Beti Djordjevic greeted the organizer’s intention to bring back old fame to pop and evergreen music, pointing out that it was a very emotional evening for her and that it evoked many memories.
“Spring in Belgrade” came to life upon the initiative of composer and conductor Vojkan Borisavljevic who had the intention to open up a new space and fill the void in popular music that had been created two decades ago with the cancellation of the “Belgrade Spring” Festival.
