Competition of the youngest ones opens "Spring in Belgrade" festival

Competition concert of music for children, tonight, in the Grand Hall of the House of Trade Unions in Belgrade opened the first night of the music festival "Spring in Belgrade". Performance of fifteen youngest competitors, whose songs were selected among fifty works that arrived to the public competition, by the jury composed of Vojkan Borisavljevic, Radoslav Grajic, Jovan Adamov and Vesna Soc Trickovic, announced a three-day music gathering, organized by the Stanislav Binicki Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence, Composers Association of Serbia and Belgrade Tourist Organization.

The winner of the first competition evening was Jana Jovanovic, who performed the song "Nothing is more beautiful" along with the choir "Horislavci". The music for the song was written by Veljko Vujcic, text Vera Vujcic, while Vojkan Borisavljevic was responsible for the arrangement.

All performers were accompanied by the musicians of the "Stanislav Binički" ensemble, and a special part of the evening was devoted to the review program in which selected participants in the actions of the Ministry of Defence "Our children" performed. Within this part of the concert, at the stage of the Trade Union Hall, the audience had opportunity to listen to Luka Tutunovic at piano, Kristina Stevanovic, Tatjana Lalic and Tatjana Nedic, as flute trio and vocalist Angela Tasic.

Hosts of the programme were dramatic artists Milorad Mandic Manda and Angela Mandic, scriptwriter Aleksandra Gajović and conductors Vesna Souc Trickovic and Jovan Adamov.

"Spring in Belgrade" was created out of the need to open a new area for the entertainment music and fill the gap in popular music that emerged two decades ago by closing the Festival "Belgrade Spring". In the next two nights we will have a competitive concert of the entertainment and pop music, and then the evening of evergreen music by local authors that emerged between 1960 and 1980.

As the festival was originally scheduled for mid-May, but it was postponed for June due to the emergency situation in the country due to catastrophic floods, organizers of "Spring in Belgrade" decided that 20 percent of the proceeds from all sales of the tickets is paid to charity.
