3rd Pan-European Congress of Military Medicine closes



The Third Pan-European Congress of Military Medicine, which brought together around 200 renowned national and international experts, has been officially closed tonight in the amphitheatre of the Military Medical Academy. The closing ceremony was attended by the State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic.

The aim of the 3rd Pan-European Congress of Military Medicine was to exchange experiences and establish cooperation between the participating countries.

Brigadier General Marijan Novakovic thanked the attendees for their participation, pointing out that the greatest value of the gathering is in the chance to meet people and make contacts. He used the today's ceremony to presented plaques to Major General Mark Morillon, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the International Committee of Military Medicine (ICMM), Colonel Paul Zabouri, ICMM Director of Communication, Colonel Dr. Pierre Neirinckx, ICMM Deputy Secretary General, Brigadier General Johan de Graaf and Major General Roger van Hoof, ICMM Secretary General.

- When we received two years ago, the task to organise this conference, I was sceptical whether we will manage to do it. Today I am proud of the entire organization. Although we were faced with the floods a few days before the beginning of the congress we managed to fully meet the expectations of the participants, Brigadier General Zoran Popovic, Director of this year's Congress, said and thanked to the ICMM members who sent letters of support to Serbia and offered assistance in Congress organization.

The Congress participants visited Oplenac yesterday, and during the day today they visited the deployable medical treatment facilities in Obrenovac, which were set up by the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the previous days to provide the residents of the recently flooded city which is available 24 hours a day.
