Binicki and Magnifico at the international festival in Ljubljana



Stanislav Binicki Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence and popular Slovenian musician Magnifico, gave a concert last night within Druga godba 2014 international music festival at open air stage Krizanke in Ljubljana.

As a sign of welcome, before the performance at the Slovenian capital, the members of the Stanislav Binicki ensemble were received at the Mayor's of Ljubljana Zoran Jankovic.

Conductor of the artistic ensemble Major Igor Mitrovic pointed out that the performance was a unique opportunity to promote our country as well as the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia.

- This is the fourth appearance of the symphonic band of our ensemble in Ljubljana, and the tenth with Magnifico, so that we have already become recognized in the region. In the repertoire for the audience in the Slovenian capital there are many songs in the Slovene language, and Belgrade audience will soon be able to hear how we sound together in the Mixer festival and the big concert at the end of June – Major Mitrovic said.

According to Robert Pesut, known as Magnifico, Druga godba festival, which means “That Other Music”, is the event with a thirty year tradition.

- Along with Stanislav Binicki ensemble, Slavic octet that exists more than half a century and is the core of the Slovenian alpine melos which is characteristic of Slovenia, and which they are really proud of, also performed. That is why I was especially pleased that they perform with the orchestra from Serbia, but also that we have managed to create a nice synergy and performance that sounds great on stage – he stressed, adding that there was great interest in the concert, which was followed by more than three thousand people in audience.

According to him, the cooperation that began during the work on the film "Montevideo, God Bless You" has grown into a very interesting musical project that will continue to perform in Belgrade during this summer.

Apart from the music from the film "Montevideo, God Bless You" and the "Montevideo, see you!", the repertoire included also songs from Magnifico's previous albums such as "Here I come", "I'll kill you", "Just a minute", "Zoom zoom kolo", "Serbian business", "I think" and "Here I am folks", as well as several new songs including "Bosangero", "Rambo", "Land of Champions" and "We'll Meet Again".

Druga godba 2014 is one of the most important music festivals in Central Europe. Its concepts and new approaches promote music contents across different geographical territories. For the fourth consecutive year, this Ljubljana festival has been ranked among the top 25 international festivals in the world.
