Enhancing of cooperation with Poland



Colonel Milan Konjikovac, Acting Chief of the Department for International Military Cooperation, received Colonel Jiri Scepancik, Defence Attaché of the Republic of Poland.

During the meeting, Colonel Konjikovac said that defence cooperation with Poland was good and that it had seen a significant progress in the past two years. After learning about the organization and capacities of the two defence systems and through cooperation in the field of military law, the following fields have been profiled as the main ones: military education, aviation medicine, military archives and chaplains service.

Konjikovac thanked Poland once again for showing compassion, care and for their generous offer to help Serbia and its people during the devastating floods, of which Minister Bratislav Gasic was introduced in a telephone conversation with Tomasz Simoniak, Polish Minister of National Defence.

Serbia is grateful for the support provided by Poland in the process of European Integration. Acting Chief of the Department for International Cooperation commended also the professional engagement of the members of the Polish Armed Forces in KFOR and expressed the hope that Poland will not reduce the number of its members.

Ministry of Defence expected the assistance from Poland in sharing experiences related to security and defence aspects of joining the European Union. Appreciating the rich experience of the members of the Polish Armed Forces from their participation in peacekeeping missions, the Ministry is interested in exchange of experiences in training and participation in multinational operations.

Colonel Scepancik said that most of the activities planned for this year are in the field of military education, as a result of very good cooperation between the two universities of defence.

The participation of representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces as observers in the exercise of the Polish Armed Forces ''ANACONDA 2014'' will contribute to the improvement of military-to-military cooperation, which can be developed also through the sharing of experiences from participating in peacekeeping missions, engagement in the European Union battle groups, and the exchange of experiences in training of artillery units.

At the end of the meeting, they signed the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan between the Ministries of Defence of Serbia and Poland for 2014.
