Standing Group of Partner Logistics Experts Meeting held
Meeting of the working body of NATO Logistics Committee which brings together logistics experts from Partner countries (Standing Group of Partner Logistics Experts – SGPLE) is held in Belgrade, from 26th to 30th May 2014. The meeting is attended by 32 representatives of 22 delegations of the NATO Member and Partner countries and partner countries (13 countries participants in the Partnership for Peace and Mediterranean Dialogue, which represents the largest number of partnership countries participating in SGPLE). The representatives of NATO Support Agency (NSPA) and Multinational Logistics Coordination Centre (MLCC) from the Czech Republic participate as well.
The Standing Group of Partner Logistics Experts is chaired by Montenegro in the period from 2013 to 2014. Lieutenant Colonel Zeljko Fustic, Chairman of SGPLE, opened the meeting, while Colonel Marko Pajcin, Head of Division in the Department for General Logistics, which is responsible for the implementation of the activity, addressed the audience and wished successful work on behalf of the Material Resources Sector.
The central theme of this spring meeting is the ''Operational Contract Support''.
As part of this activity, on 27th May 2014, in the premises of the Material Resources Sector of MoD, a representative of NSPA gave a lecture which was attended by 25 representatives of organisational units of MoD and SAF. At the lecture, in addition to presenting the NSPA, the main topic was the organization and implementation of support to NATO operations by contracting with a focus on the interaction between the logisticians and contracting officers, in order to define the contract as well as the process of defining requirements for contracting.SGPLE is a working body that operates within the NATO Logistics Committee, and according to the hierarchy it is subordinate to the Logistics Committee Executive Group and Movement and Transportation Group. It is the only NATO working body which promotes the employment of Partner logistic capabilities in NATO-led operations. It provides a permanent forum to address logistic topics of interest to the NATO Strategic Commands, as well as practical issues raised by the Partners. SGPLE meetings provide opportunity for partner countries to exchange experiences on various common issues related to logistics at one place, both in national armies and when deploying forces in multinational operations. In this way it is possible to directly perceive both good and bad experiences faced by logistics in all phases of multinational operations (preparation, deployment and withdrawal).
