Armed Forces helps in Obrenovac
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces have been engaged today in Obrenovac, among other things, on the decontamination and disinfection of buildings and vehicles, while Military Police members are helping colleagues from the police and gendarmerie by establishing checkpoints and maintaining order in the city. At the entrance and exit of Obrenovac, all vehicles are disinfected from preventive reasons, while in the city they are engaged in the same work on the roads and buildings.
- Decontamination is performed in order to prevent infection and possible outbreaks of intestinal diseases. Disinfection is performed by sodium hypochlorite. This is one of the four points at which members of the Serbian Armed Forces perform preventive decontamination at the entrance to Obrenovac and on the way out to Ub and Valjevo, Captain Matic says.
In Obrenovac, after the water retreated, the situation is still serious. Entry is allowed only to shopkeepers and café owners, and vehicles of the army and police. Therefore, at several points, a joint military-police patrol was formed at the entrance to the city. At one of the points we heard that the people coming to the city are anxious and nervous, but there are no major problems in control there. Military Police members are helping their colleagues to maintain order in the city, and the joint patrol has been formed with members of the Gendarmerie.
Sergeant Miroslav Lackovic from the Military Police Special Operation Battalion "Cobras" says that cooperation with the police is good and that there are no problems in this cooperation.
"Our duty is to help with vehicles of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence, and if there are any criminal acts, this is also within our scope of activities, and we are assisting them in other situations when registering the vehicles and in control", Lackovic said.
