For four days, unit of the CBRN Personnel Training Centre has been conducting biological decontamination of the terrain from which water has retreated.

Prior to coming to Veliki Crljeni, they conducted decontamination of the area in Ub where more than 3600 heads of small and large animals were removed from the endangered area.

From Major Nenad Stevic, commander of decontamination platoon, we learned that the buildings are sprayed with sodium hypochlorite, which is otherwise used to disinfect swimming pools.

A total of fifteen people were engaged of which ten are professional soldiers. They do their job in rubber protective suits in which they can endure for about half an hour due to an increase in temperature. Every hour they lose one litre of water from the body.

By the biological decontamination, members of the CBRN Centre eliminate the risk of the development of fungi, moulds and bacteria.
