Minister Gasic met with Ambassador of the Russian Federation
Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic has met today with Alexander Cepurin, the Russian Ambassador in Belgrade.Minister Gasic expressed deep gratitude for the help and support of Russia, which sent aid to Serbia affected by catastrophic floods in 24 hours upon the call.
"Russia first came to rescue and 73 brave Russian rescuers, including 20 divers, involved in saving lives of the endangered Obrenovac citizens, just three hours after landing in Nis. Timely assistance and the presence of Lieutenant General Eduardo Chizhikov are specific message about the dedication, professionalism and sincere friendship which has been confirmed again, this time to fight the unpredictable nature", Minister Gasic said.
The Russian Federation has sent to Serbia 40 motor boats, 30 mobile electric generators, 18 pumps for pumping water and heat guns for drying, as well as 47 tons of food, blankets and other resources.
Serbia is firmly committed to the fundamental development of cooperation with the Russian Federation in defence, in accordance with the Declaration on Strategic Partnership, signed last year.
Minister Gasic thanked on the principled support of Russia to territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and confirmed his participation in the upcoming 3rd Moscow International Security Conference.
