Minister of Defence receives the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic met today with Juma Rashid Saif Zayed Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Belgrade.

On this occasion, Minister Gasic expressed his belief that in the forthcoming period, the strategic directions for the further development of relations between the two countries will be defined, especially when it comes to defence cooperation, which has primarily evolved in military-economic and military-military fields.

"Development and constant strengthening of the traditionally friendly relations with the United Arab Emirates are of great importance. There is room for improving the cooperation, especially when it comes to military medicine and military education", Minister Gasic said.

Ambassador Zayed Al Dhaheri congratulated Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic on his appointment to his new position and expressed readiness for the continuation of further cooperation between the UAE and the Republic of Serbia in the field of defence and effective execution of tasks and implementation of projects in the mutual interest.

The Republic of Serbia and the United Arab Emirates signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Defence and the Joint Statement on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership, as well as the Agreement on joint development and acquisition between the companies ''YUGOIMPORT SDPR'' and ''Emirates Advanced Research & Technology Holding LLC'' - EARTH. The initial forms of cooperation were established at the levels of military agencies, military police and Special Forces, as well as in the field of ICT and cyber defence.
