Handover Ceremony at the Ministry of Defence

Mr Bratislav Gasic, the newly elected Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, and Mr Nebojsa Rodic, former Minister of Defence in the caretaker government, signed the Handover Protocol in the Great Warriors Hall. The Handover Ceremony was attended by General Ljubisa Dikovic, Chief of General Staff, and members of the collegium of the Minister of Defence.

The newly elected Minister of Defence said that he "knew that he was entering one of the most organized systems of the Republic of Serbia".

- Just like Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, when he was Defence Minister, Nebojsa Rodic has also invested tremendous efforts in improving the situation in the Ministry of Defence. I expect in the next few days to be introduced to the entire situation in the line ministry, and to continue on the path that showed good results in the last two years, Minister Gasic said.

Previous Defence Minister thanked everyone for the cooperation so far and wished every success to the new minister.

- I would like to say to Minister Gasic that the word minister in Latin means "servant of the people", and that we were all elected by the will of the citizens, that our mandates are bounded by the results that people expect from us. When it comes to the Serbian Armed Forces, these results are recognisable so far. Without a good team, without jointly strategically or tactically set specific target to be achieved, we will not have the results which we could be proud of. For Minister Gasic this will certainly be a challenge, and I believe that he will continue with the same intensity and capacity of engagement, Rodic said.

On this occasion, General Dikovic and Minister Gasic presented the previous Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic with appropriate gifts for his results, work and efforts in the Ministry of Defence so far.
