Minister of Defence received newly appointed Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates



Nebojsa Rodic, Minister of Defence in the caretaker government held talks today with the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Belgrade Juma Rashid Saif Zayed Al Dhaheri.

The current relations between the two countries provide an excellent basis for the development and intensification of defence cooperation, and the development of bilateral relations will certainly contribute to the opening of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Belgrade, the interlocutors agreed.

When it comes to defence cooperation, it primarily evolved in military-economic and military-military fields.

The Republic of Serbia and the United Arab Emirates signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Defence and the Joint Statement on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership, as well as the Agreement on joint development and acquisition between the companies ''YUGOIMPORT SDPR'' and ''Emirates Advanced Research & Technology Holding LLC'' - EARTH. The initial forms of cooperation were established at the levels of military agencies, military police and Special Forces, as well as in the field of ICT and cyber defence.

During the talks it was pointed out that the Serbian defence industries can offer different products to the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates. It was noted that there are opportunities for the establishment and development of the initial forms of cooperation in the fields of military medicine and military education.

"The Ministry of Defence is ready to meet the demands for education and development of the members of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates in the military educational institutions of the Republic of Serbia", Minister Rodic pointed out.
