Minister of Defence meets Ambassador of Egypt



Nebojsa Rodic, Minister of Defence in the caretaker government, have met today with Ms Menha Mahrous Bakhoum, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Belgrade.

Minister Rodic and Ambassador Bakhoum agreed that the relations between the two countries were traditionally good and that there was a need for further enhancement of cooperation in all fields. They talked about the importance of signing the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of defence, which would create a legal basis for future cooperation. It was concluded that there was a common interest in further strengthening and promoting cooperation in the field of defence.

The work of joint military committees at high level was resumed to discuss security issues, defence reform and analyze current and future projects of cooperation in the defence field.

The Egyptian side was particularly interested in improving military economic and military technical cooperation, and military educational cooperation in the field of military technical sciences. They also discussed the possibilities of the development of military medical cooperation, and the Egyptian side was offered capacities for training of medical technicians at the Military Medical Academy. Also, the topic of the discussion was the possibility of opening the Office of Defence Attaché of Egypt in Belgrade, in order to improve cooperation in the field of defence.
