Guard Members of the Serbian Armed Forces visit Krusevac elementary school pupils

Guard members of the Serbian Armed Forces visited yesterday "Dragomir Marković" elementary school in Kruševac, to familiarize eight-grade pupils and members of the historical sections with the life and work of this elite unit, but also the benefits of the military profession.

During the two-hour meetings, the students saw the documentary film "Chronicle of the Guard", and then the guard members answered many questions of the children.

Future high school and university students were most interested in how to enroll in the Military Grammar School and Military Academy, as well as and learn what cadet life is like first-hand during their studies.

"How tall do I have to be to be admitted to the Guard", " Is Mathematics the most difficult subject at the Academy", " How similar is the life of cadets to what we saw in the movie and the series of "Military Academy", "Which department should I enroll on to become a tank driver", "Can I enroll in the Military Grammar School if I have a curved spine, flat feet and sphere", were just some of the imaginative children's questions that Lieutenant Djordje Simic and Second Lieutenant Aleksandra Misic tirelessly answered for the whole two hours.

- We always try to offer children as many as possible of various non-teaching facilities to familiarize them with the real life in a creative way and through the experiences of respected authorities, and to focus their interests to some extent when it comes to the future life occupation, Sasa Jevtic, school director said.

- Today's opportunity is such an example. We wished to draw attention of the pupils, who are currently at the first of many life milestones, to another interesting profession, and through introduction to the real guard members to make it clearer for them what the military profession is like, what does it take to become a guard member and what one member of the unit must pass from entering into a military school to obtaining the diploma and job – Jevtic explains, expressing the hope that this campaign is the beginning of a long and successful tradition.
