Today's statement of the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces during taking the oath of March generation of soldiers in the voluntary military service in Valjevo, indicates the obligation and necessity that the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia makes providing this official statement:

Permanent strategic orientation to professionalization of the Serbian Armed Forces excludes consideration and putting the issue of regular military service on the agenda before the state authorities.

The decision to suspend compulsory enlistment is not subject to review in the Ministry of Defence, and therefore it was not even meant to be the food for thought in political, professional and military public.

Returning to the concept of conscription would exclude members of the Serbian Armed Forces of opportunity to participate in the Euro-integration and peace-keeping missions around the world, for what we have already been gaining recognition, as well as to further enhance the operational readiness for the execution of all military tasks.
