Honorary salvo on the Day of the Republic of Serbia



In commemoration of the 15th February – the National Day of the Republic of Serbia , today at the Sava terrace at Kalemegdan a salvo of ten volleys from six pieces of artillery was fired .

The firing , which was conducted by the Honor Guard Battalion of the Serbian Army , was attended by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Nebojsa Rodic and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army , General Ljubisa Diković with members of the Collegium.

Serbia celebrates National Day on the great Christian holiday of Candlemas , marking the anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising , led by Karadjordje . On the same day , in 1835, the first Constitution of the Serbian principality was adopted , known as Sretenje constitution that defines Serbia as an independent principality divided into districts , counties and municipalities .
