Session of the rector's council of the Serbian University Conference

The working sessions of the Conference of University Rectors Council of Serbia (KONUS) was held today at the Central Club.

The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic , Deputy Minister for Human Resources Miloš Janković , rectors of universities in Serbia , rectors of universities in the Republic of Serbian , president of the National Council for Higher Education and Science and the President of the National Commission for Accreditation and Quality Assurance .

The topic of the work session was - Improving cooperation and educational activities of the University of Defence in Belgrade with universities in Serbia. The opening speech was given by the Deputy President of KONUS , the rector of the University of Novi Sad , prof . Miroslav Vesković , the host of the meeting was the Rector of the University of Defence Lt. Gen. prof . Dr. Miodrag Jevtic.

Professor Vesković said that at the meeting it was agreed on the importance of the University of Defence , and it is very important to talk about what is the contribution of universities to the nation's progress in education.

- The University of Defense is very important and a constructive member of KONUS
and its role is important in the area of higher education of the Republic of Serbia , regardless of the its special manner of functioning . We are facing challenges in higher education , cooperation in the fields of science and scientific research activities as well as in international activities . You need knowledge to contribute to strengthening our innovation and research potential , said Professor Vesković .

Rector of the University of Defence thanked the audience , previous co-workers , for the support they have provided so far to the youngest university in Serbia .

- There has been good inter-institutional cooperation and thanks to that we have reached the necessary standards to participate equally in the promotion of higher education and research activities in the areas of our state. We want to educate young people to enable them to be creative executives and bearers of a large number of tasks , and raise military expertise to the next level . Also, we want to strengthen our contribution to the academic community , share experiences, apply them in practice and strengthen quality , said General Jevtic .

t the end of the meeting the following proposals were adopted- promotion of inter-university co-operation in all fields of national and common interests , support to the University of Defense for inclusion in the Danube Conference universities, professional and fellow assistance of the University of Defence in the inclusion of " Horizon 2020 " as the bearer or a partner in projects and involvement in projects of national importance , and linking higher education and the economy. Furthermore proposals on cooperation in the field of work mobility , distance learning and lifelong training , joint participation in professional conferences , transfer and exchange of experiences and knowledge gained from foreign partners , as well as the proposal for the appointment of a member of CONE in Council scientific and research activities of the University of Defence.

The Conference of Universities of Serbia was established in 2005 for the purpose of coordination of the work of establishing a shared policy , realization of common interests and the performance of work under the law. Members of KONUS are those universities that have on the day when the law on higher education entered into force had obtained a decision which confirmed its on fulfilling the conditions for the beginning of work activities , as well as the newly-established universities that attained the decision later.
