Third session of the Government Political Council for Implementation of Resolution 1325 within NAP



Political Council of the Government to implement the National Action Plan for the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 of the United Nations - Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia ( NAP) held its third meeting of that body in extended composition .

The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic , and , in addition to representatives of the ministries responsible for the implementation of the NAP , was attended by representatives of the CPE , the Ombudsman and the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance

Commitment to the objectives of the NAP to improve the representation of women in the security sector and in management positions , the formation of planned institutional bodies and mechanisms envisaged by the NAP , improving models and reporting of gender analysis in the security sector , pointing to the importance of continuing education and the role of men and women to overcome gender stereotypes , encouraging the media to objectively inform on the implementation of UNSCR 1325 in Serbia, the affirmation of the public good practices - these are just some of the topics that were discussed at the meeting of the Political Council .

This is the second consecutive session, the highest institutional body of the Government for the implementation of the NAP in the past month which is an indication of the commitment of the Government to significantly contribute to the improvement of the implementation of the above action plan in the Republic of Serbia, based on consideration of the proposal of the competent authorities of the Government , and the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia , independent bodies and civil society organizations in the country .

As was stated at the meeting of this body , during the next month Political Council activities will be focused on the possibility of improving the operation of existing institutional bodies and mechanisms for the implementation of the NAP , in particular the provision of regular and certain dynamics in the reporting on the implementation of the NAP , improving reporting model , improving the process of collecting and processing data on women, peace and security.

At the same time the members of the Political Council of the implementation of the NAP agreed that in the next period the main work should focus towards the local level , with greater involvement of civil society and to provide regular planning and financing of the activities envisaged in the NAP Serbia.
