Bilateral defence consultations in Germany
Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia , headed by the Chief of the Department of Multilateral Affairs Directorate for International Military Cooperation Colonel Milan Konjikovac , visited Berlin from 18 to 20 November, in order to realize bilateral defense consultations with a delegation of the German Federal Ministry of Defense , headed by the deputy chief of the Directorate for International Military Cooperation frigate captain Martin Breithaupt .Both sides agreed that both sides have a vested interest in improving cooperation in defense and continuity of high-level visits. The cooperation focuses mainly on the field of military education , military medicine and preparation for placement in multinational operations.
Colonel Konjikovac informed his interlocutors of the results of the reform of the defense system of the Republic of Serbia and the need to redefine the legal framework for cooperation between the two ministries. He stressed the commitment of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia to significantly improve collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Defence of Germany and made proposals for concrete military cooperation through joint participation in exercises , Cooperation Centre for Peacekeeping Operations and the Centers for NBC , joint participation in multinational operations , cooperation through activities in common security and defense policy , as well as cooperation in the field of psychology . He particularly emphasized the importance of reciprocity in the implementation of development officers at all levels of schooling.Frigate captain Martin Breithaupt stressed that the Republic of Serbia is one of top non Alliance members for cooperation . He welcomed the intention to intensify cooperation in defence and initiate cooperation in new areas while stressing the importance of staff talks and visits to the Inspector General of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Germany Volker to the Republic of Serbia, the implementation of which is planned for the first half of 2014.
During the visit a plan of bilateral military cooperation between the two defense ministries for in 2014 was agreed upon.
