Minister of Defence meets the Ambassador of Israel



Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic met today with Israeli Ambassador Josef Levy.

It was concluded that good relations between the two countries represent a strong basis for the development of defence cooperation. It was emphasized that it is important to start the process of coordination and the signing of the new intergovernmental Agreement on Defence Cooperation in order to create an adequate legal framework to deepen military cooperation.

Rodic Minister and Ambassador Levy agreed that it is necessary to sign as soon as possible the Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the Yad Vashem Memorial Centre for keeping the memory of the Holocaust Martyrs and Heroes.

It was concluded that the focal areas of common interest are military economic and military-to-military cooperation, but that the possibilities are open also when it comes to military education and military medical cooperation.

They highlighted the importance of continuity of high-level visits and proposed the soonest possible meeting of defence ministers of the two countries. They also discussed the possibility of opening the Israeli Defence Attaché's Office in Belgrade, which would greatly improve and channel the future cooperation.
