Decorations for the Serbian Peacekeepers in Lebanon
Spanish Brigadier-General Fernando Lopez Del Pozo, Sector East Commander at the UN mission in Lebanon, has decorated 34 members of the Serbian contingent with the UN medals for dedicated service. At the military ceremony which took place in the UN 7-2 Miguel de Cervantes base near the town of Marjayoun in southern Lebanon, the Serbian soldiers received the medals along with the members of Spanish and Ecuadorian troops.
Expressing gratitude for the selfless and professional contribution during the six-month engagement in preserving peace and security in this part of the Middle East, General Del Pozo wished members of the infantry platoon and staff officers good health and a successful military career.
In early November, the infantry platoon from the Fourth Army Brigade will be replaced by a company from the Third brigade, so around 150 officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers will be involved in the UNIFIL mission in each rotation in the coming period.
