Marking anniversary of the death of Alexander Karađorđevic



Laying of wreaths and paying state and military honours in St. Djordje Church in Oplenac at Topola today marked the 78th anniversary of the death of King Alexander Karadjordjevic I.

Wreaths were laid by Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy Momo Colakovic, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic, President of the Municipality of Topola Dragan Jovanovic, and on behalf of the Karađorđevic Foundation manager Dragan Reljic.

The laurel wreaths on the sarcophagus of the King were laid by the president of the Association of descendants of the Serbian warriors from 1912 to 1920, the representatives of the Society for preserving the tradition of the liberation wars from 1912 to 1918 and traditionaly group of citizens from Obrež village near Varvarin.

Organizer of the state commemorative ceremony is the Serbian Government – Committee for fostering the tradition of Serbian liberation wars.
