Placing a cross on the roof of the Church of the Holy King Stefan of Decani

Bishop of Lipljani Jovan Culibrk consecrated today the cross which was then placed on the roof of the newly built church of the Holy King Stefan of Decani at the entrance to the barracks "Radovan Medic" at Batajnica. The event was attended by Protovicar Rade Jovic, the responsible priest, Commander of the 224th Centre for Electronic Warfare Colonel Branislav Ljusic, Commander of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit Colonel Spasoje Vulevic, representatives of the church, the military, the police and many citizens.

Construction of the church is an example of the successful civil-military cooperation of the residents of the residential complex 13 May and members of the 224th Electronic Warfare Centre and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit.

Bishop Jovan stressed the importance of that building, as the feat will be recorded in our history forever. He emphasized that the consecration and installation of the cross on the church represents the "end of the beginning and the beginning of the end".

- The end of the beginning because the church was built, and the beginning of the end that has no end – spiritual masonry. This church has a special significance because it is the first one after the Second World War which was jointly built by the military and the police together with the people, said Bishop John.

The foundation of the church was consecrated on 3 May last year. Along with the donations of various institutions, personal contributions of officers, soldiers and policemen, as well as support by the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Zemun City Hall should also be pointed out.

The next stages are setting the outer facade, making the iconostasis and construction of the bell-tower, which should be similar to that of the Pec Patriarchate.
