New apartments for the members of defence system



In the block of flats “Stepa Stepanović“, Belgrade, the keys to another 43 newly built apartments were delivered to the members of the defence system.

The residents were handed over the keys by the Head of the Department for Master Plan in the Department of Infrastructure of the Ministry of Defence Colonel Aleksandar Ilić wishing everyone happy moving into their new apartments.

- So far 423 Decisions and 252 apartments have been handed over what with today`s 43 apartments make 295 in total of 723 apartments that, in this residential area, belong to the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence. You have been waiting long for this day so I wish you all a lot of happiness – Colonel Ilić pointed out at the delivery of keys.

In this way the project on building flats and moving the representatives of defence system in this residential area of Belgrade that is being realized by the Ministry of Defence in cooperation with the Building Directorate of Serbia continues.

Among the first who stepped over the threshold of the new home were the members of the Bačkonja family. Lieutenant Colonel Nenad Bačkonja, employed in the Department for Operations of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, has been waiting for a flat for 27 years.

- After all these years finally we have home. The flat is excellent, very functional, my son and daughter have already chosen their own rooms – says Lieutenant Colonel Bačkonja smiling, who is going to occupy the remaining room with his wife, and adds – the most important is that the children finally have their own living space.
