Third regional meeting of mechanisms for gender equality



The third regional meeting of representatives of mechanisms for gender equality in the Ministries of Defence and Armed Forces of the Western Balkans organized by SEESAC, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) started in the ceremonious hall of the Central Military Club in Belgrade today.

The meeting was opened by representatives of the UNDP / SEESAC in Belgrade Bojan Balon, and the gathered were addressed by a representative of the Sector for Security Policy of the Ministry of Defence Colonel Dragan Tatomir, as well as the military attaché at the Embassy of Norway to Serbia Colonel Esben As.

The objectives of the two-day workshop, attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of Montenegro, and the MoD of Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina is establishing networks and exchange of information on gender perspectives in defense policy, planning future activities the area, as well as the presentation and exchange of information on policies and employment practices in the defense.

The last part of the workshop was reserved for discussion about the possibilities of establishing a regional network of women in the Western Balkans armies.
