MoD and SAF delegation at the session of the Serbian-Egyptian Joint Military Committee
The delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, led by the Deputy Minister for Defence Miroslav Jovanovic is paying a working visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt where the 7th session of the Serbian-Egyptian Joint Military Committee (Joint Military Committee) will be held.
Assistant Minister for Defence Jovanovic met with the Deputy Minister of Defence of Arab Republic of Egypt, Major General Mohammed El Asaro. On that occasion he confirmed the traditional friendship of the two countries defence ministries as well as its peoples while during the talks all issues of bilateral military cooperation were discussed.
On this occasion, Jovanovic stressed the need to create a legal framework for future cooperation and the reopening of the Egyptian delegation of Defence in Belgrade thanking the Republic of Egypt for understanding and the principled foreign policy of Egypt regarding Serbia’s efforts to ensure the sovereignty and territorial integrity, peace and stability for all citizens in Kosovo and Metohija .
The delegation of the Ministry of Defence was informed of the situation and the tasks of the defense system in Egypt as well as the role of the Armed Forces of Egypt in achieving peace and stability in the country and the region.
During the 7th IGC session all the current issues of bilateral military cooperation between the two countries were addressed. The co-president of the Serbian part of the Joint Militray Committee, Deputy Minister Jovanovic, met on that occasion with General Emad Al-Atar, Major General Mohsen El Saz and Brigadier General Salem Abd El Rahman, the operational management, as well as representatives of major organizational structure of the Armed Forces of Egypt. Both sides expressed shared views on the need to intensify and improve relations of mutual interest and identify possible areas of future cooperation.
In addition, the results of the committee were analyzed with a particular emphasis on the development of joint scientific-technical projects, military education, military medical, and other forms of cooperation of mutual interest.
Furthermore, the bilateral military cooperation plan between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Arab Republic of Egypt for 2013 was signed..
The next session of the Committee is planned for 2014.
